The Taste: Tuesday at 8|7c on ABC

If you have not watched ABC's newest Cooking competition, you are missing out!
You can watch the latest episode here http://abc.tv/Z3jimp

The taste is a lot like the Voice but instead of judging contestants on their singing abilities, they are judged on their cooking skills and their abilities to make things with great flavor.

I am a big fan of cooking shows and have been known to sit and watch shows and
then try the recipes at home.

I really enjoy watching this show and would highly recommend you check it out as well!

You can watch on Tuesdays at 8/7 C on ABC!

I Lost My Child!!!!

This morning as Miley and I were out taking Delilah for a walk before leaving for work, we took the normal route that we have established over the last few days. As we neared the end of our walk and were just finishing up and getting ready to head back to our apartment, Delilah took care of business and I asked Miley to sit on the bench right next to me while I cleaned up. I bent down to pick up and turned around and Miley was gone.

Gone.

My heart stopped. I looked around, trying to see if maybe she just stepped out of view.

No where to be found.

I could feel the panic begin to rise inside as I realized that she was gone.

I began running around calling out her name, looking in all the stairwells where she had tried to duck into before, thinking she might be hiding in there. I continued calling out for her as I darted from place to place trying to find her and listening to see if I could hear her, yelling or crying from somewhere.

I heard nothing.

I saw a few people walking their dogs and asked them if they had seen my daughter in her red coat and no luck but they began searching and calling out for her as well.

Still nothing.

I ran back to my apartment and ran in to see if maybe she just found her way back home.

She was not there.

As I continued to yell and scream out her name a few people came to investigate what all the commotion was about and quickly began to help me search for my daughter.

At this point I called 911.

The operator took down my address and told me to head closer to my apartment to wait for the officer they were dispatching.

Terrible thoughts of what happened to her popped into my head.

What if someone took her, what if she got hit by a car, what if she is terribly injured or worse?!?!

That's when I heard someone yelling "we have her".

My heart stopped.

I handed the leash that was attached to Delilah to a stranger and said please take my dog and I ran.

I ran faster than I have ever run. When I got to them, they did in fact find her! They found her in between two of the buildings.

She was hiding from me, like it was a game.

I thanked all the people who helped me, got back Delilah from the kind stranger who helped and hurried inside.

I still feel sick to my stomach about what happened and what could of happened, and am so thankful that some kind strangers helped me find Miley.

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

I'm moving out!

I have some great news!
If you follow me on twitter you probably already saw this but
I am finally after 6 months of living with my parents after my divorce to save money
moving out!
Woo Hoo!

I am moving into a 2 bedroom apartment that is dog friendly!
It is a lot smaller of a space than I am used to but it will be perfect for us.

The apartment complex also has a lot of great amenities that I am looking forward to taking advantage of:
2 pools
Outdoor Hot tub
Indoor Year round Hot tub
Exercise room with cardio equipment and lots of free weights
A movie theater room that you can use first come first served or rent out for your special occasions!
A courtyard with an outdoor fireplace

That last one I am really looking forward to, sitting outside by the fireplace drinking some wine.
Heaven!

There is the layout of my new place :)
My tub is a deep garden style tub. cannot wait to take a bath!!!

I sign the lease thursday after work, my internet and cable gets put in on friday morning and I move in on saturday.

My best friend Cyndyl is going to come over and spend the night to help me get all unpacked and settled.
I am so glad she is because I am such a procrastinator, that even though I will be miserable I will find excuses to not unpack everything and be living out of boxes for a while.
Yes I am that lazy about moving.
I hate it!
I am the person that I wish my stuff would pack itself and just magically appear in all the "right" places in the new home.

It's been several years since I lived in an apartment so I know that it is gonna take some getting used to but I am really excited to take the next set in life and move on from the last year of my life.
I feel like this is a new beginning and can't wait to show you all the new stuff I have purchased for my apartment and see if I can get some of my interest decorating tips used and make this place a great home!

Miley is excited too and can't wait to go swimming in the summer in our pool. I think it will be good for us to get out of my parents home, because as thankful as I am for all the help my parents have given me.
It is hard living with your parents again as an adult with a child.

My views on gun control

Well to start this,
I would like to say I am against gun control and completely support of our 2nd amendment right to bear arms.

I do not think that guns are the problem.
As it has been stated many times before,
Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

The problem is that we need to get help for those people with mental health issues.
What we need is better laws and more health insurance for mental health.
If a family member tries to commit someone to get a psychological evaluation or get help, if the patient is over 18 they do not have to consent and therefore will not get help.
The problem with this is if they have mental health issues they may not realize it and therefore should not be able to choose for themselves.
I have read quite a few stories lately of mothers who are worried about their children because of the psychological disorders but not getting the help they need, because they have used up their lifetime benefit cap and drained their savings but don't have any other options and their children are still untreated.
A good article I read that discusses this is here.

I fully support making background checks a mandatory requirement for purchasing guns.
I think that is an absolute necessity.

But, the guns used in these types of shootings or any shooting really are not typically purchased  legally. They are either stolen, or purchased under the table.

One thing I think that could curb gun violence is that people who are already serving time for gun related crimes need to serve their whole sentences.
They should not be allowed to get off early for good behavior.

I think that there should be more people with Concealed Carry Licenses.
My opinion is that the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

I think that schools should have either armed guards or metal detectors at every entrance.
I  heard a wonderful recommendation recently that retired military and/ or retired law enforcement officers would be perfect for a position of guarding a school.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

It's OK...

Here I am 12:59 AM cannot sleep, so figured I could get some blogging done.
I'm pretty nervous I am getting sick.
My daughter is on an antibiotic for an ear infection, my sister is on an antibiotic for Strep, both of my parents have the flu I'm pretty sure and I am not feeling so good right now.
I need to go shoot up some vitamin c.
I kid about shooting up.
But seriously I need some serious Vit C in my life to avoid this plague!

I haven't linked up with Neely or Amber in a while so here we go!

Its Ok Thursdays
It's OK.....
~that I have all these great ideas I want to blog about but school seems to be overtaking my life again.
~that 2 of these ideas are pretty controversial and I am a little nervous about negative reactions.
~that I live with my parents and that my mom likes me to keep my room clean while I am living here and I totally did not feel like putting my laundry away the other day so I stuck it in my closet and closed the door. The next day at work my mom asked where my Emergen-c was and I told her somewhere in my room go ahead and get it. She found my hidden laundry. I got called a 5 year old. LMAO!
~that I want to get ahead in my classes so that I can read for pleasure again.
~that I got extremely pissed when I finished reading Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver and realized I have to wait till March to find out what happens! You cannot leave a book with a crazy ending and expect me to be ok with waiting!!! Grrr.
~that I watched 2 1/2 seasons of The Walking Dead in less than a week! Now I can't wait till Feb 10th
~to be stressed that this is my busy time of the year. Reconciling, W2, Taxes, Filing, Take out the old stuff and fill it with the stuff for the new year, insurance audits, etc. Busy Busy Busy!
~To want to recommend From Mrs to Mama, Living in Yellow, The Daily Tay and Don't Quote The Raven to anyone looking to sponsor a blog. These are the ones I have seen some serious results from. If you have any questions please feel free to email me jensdayslikethis@gmail.com or leave me a message
~that my daughters school was supposed to have firefighters come today to talk with the children (it got rescheduled for next week) but when the teacher was letting me know about it I told her I wanna come!  I really do. I would totally skip work for that!
Newly Divorced+Hot Firefighters=Count me in!
On a side note, if you need some blog design work email me at jensdayslikethis@gmail.com I designed my blog as well as my friend Monica's and really enjoy it so I would love to help out for minimal costs just trying to build up my portfolio :)

What you should know when taking a 4 Year Old to Disney

After our trip to Disney World in Florida last month these are a few of the things that I think you should know if traveling with a young child.
~Know where all of the bathrooms are.
Honestly I think Disney needs to make a map with where restrooms are in comparison to rides and character meet and greets.
~Bring Snacks and a water bottle
Food costs so much there so try and keep what you have to purchase to a minimum
~On a positive side if your child has allergies let the waiters or any one serving you food about an allergy they will help you and make sure there is no problems.
~Bring them back to the room at some point in the afternoon to take a nap so that you will be able to enjoy the night entertainment.
~The kid rides are fun. So be prepared to loosen up a bit and have a good time ;)
~The lines to meet characters can be a bit overwhelming but when you see your child's excitement it becomes worth it!
~Skip the character meals though. Not worth it. The characters only stop for a minute and you have to wait forever to see them and the food is terrible.

I had a great time at Disney and I know Miley did too!
